What My Clients' Dogs Have Taught Me About Trust
Real Stories • Real Dogs • Real Care
I have been caring for dogs in Westchase, Citrus Park, Odessa, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor, and South Tampa for years. And the thing that never gets old is watching a dog go from nervous to completely at home. Every single time, it feels like a gift.
I want to share some of the stories that have meant the most to me. Not to brag — but because if you are reading this, you are probably the kind of person who loves your dog the way these families love theirs. And you deserve to know what it actually looks like when someone truly cares.
Teddy — "More Detailed Than My Kids' Daycare Report"
Kristie found me through a moms' group recommendation. Before we started, I came to her home to meet her and Teddy, her French Bulldog, before a single visit was ever scheduled. That is how I work — your dog deserves to meet me first.
What Kristie said after almost a year of weekly visits:
That made me laugh and cry at the same time. Because that is exactly what I want every dog parent to feel. Not just "he was fine." But what he did, how he acted, what made him happy that day.
Dallas and Murphy — VIP from Day One
Britton has a 36kg Labradoodle named Dallas and a 14kg Schnauzer named Murphy. Two very different dogs. Before I ever showed up for a visit, I came to meet them both — two days early, just so they would know my face.
Britton called it a VIP experience. I call it the only way to do it right.
That last part — for us as a family — is everything. Because when you trust someone with your dog, you are trusting them with a piece of your heart.
Bowser and Bear — "I've Accepted Second Place"
Alicia has two Shih Tzus — Bowser and Bear. She has been with TamPaw for years. And she wrote something that I think about all the time:
She also said: "She talks to them, comforts them, and treats them like they're hers. You can feel how much she genuinely cares."
That is not something you can fake. Dogs know. They always know.
Chairis and Beau — "Flexible, Reliable, and Honest"
Kelsey has been trusting me with Chairis and Beau for almost two years. Three words she used to describe me: flexible, reliable, and honest.
Those three words matter more than people realize. Life with dogs is unpredictable. Plans change. Emergencies happen. What Kelsey needed — and what every dog parent needs — is someone who shows up, no matter what.
The Shiba Inu Who Pulls Toward the Door
Dayanna has a 13-pound Shiba Inu who is, in her words, "very cautious about entering other people's homes." Most dogs like her take weeks to warm up to a new person.
But here is what Dayanna told me after two years of visits:
That sentence lives in my heart. Because that dog did not learn to love coming here because I forced anything. She learned it because every single visit, she was safe, she was seen, and she was never rushed.
The Huskies Who Needed Someone Who Could Keep Up
Katie has two huskies. High energy does not begin to describe it. She was nervous about finding someone who could actually handle them — not just survive the visit, but give them what they needed.
High-energy dogs are not a problem. They are one of my favorite kinds of visit.
Two Chocolate Labs for Almost Two Years
Amy has two chocolate Labrador Retrievers. She has been with TamPaw for almost two years — for walks, daycare, and overnight stays.
Five words. That is the whole review. And it is enough.
Ruby — "Reliable, Responsible, and Caring"
Astrid started bringing Ruby to me as a backup — mainly when her regular walker was not available. Ruby is a very high-energy dog, and Astrid needed someone who could understand that energy and work with it, not against it.
After a year and a half:
Sometimes wonderful is exactly enough.
The Anxious Dog Who Warmed Up Immediately
Gabi has a dog who "does not do well with new people." She was nervous about trying anyone new. But she took the chance.
The photos matter. When you are far from your dog, a photo is not just a photo — it is proof that they are okay. It is a moment of peace in the middle of a busy day. I send them because I would want them too.
Gunner and Luna — Two Personalities, One Standard of Care
Suzanne has two dogs with completely different personalities. What she noticed is that I take the time to understand each one individually.
You cannot care for every dog the same way. A nervous dog needs patience and quiet. A high-energy dog needs movement and stimulation. A senior dog needs gentleness and extra attention. My job is to figure out who your dog is — and meet them there.
Kobe — "She Loves Him Like He's Hers"
Cecilia has been trusting me with Kobe for years. Her review is simple and it says everything:
Kobe is one of the good ones. They all are.
The Valentine's Weekend Bulldog
Michelle left her English Bulldog with me over Valentine's Day weekend. She was nervous — it was a holiday, it was a busy time, and her dog is a bulldog, which comes with its own set of needs.
What happened?
He didn't want to come home. I cannot think of a better review than that.
Uno — "Every Time He Comes Back, He's Happy"
Mary Elsy has been bringing Uno to me for over a year. Her review is simple and it is everything:
Happy. Not just okay. Not just fine. Happy. That is the standard I hold myself to with every single dog.
Koli — "Came Home Happy and Well Cared For"
Erika brought Koli to TamPaw and described the experience as incredible. Professional, attentive, treated like family.
That is the goal. Every single time.
Rose and Moon — "The Best Mom to My Babies"
Luisa has two dogs — Rose and Moon. She wrote her review in Spanish, which tells you something about the community I serve and the trust that crosses every language barrier.
She called me the best mom to her babies. I cried a little when I read that.
In Loving Memory of Parce
Monica trusted me with her English Bulldog, Parce, for over six years. Six years of visits, of updates, of watching him age and slow down and still wag his tail when he saw me.
Parce passed away. And losing him broke something in me that I am still putting back together.
I am sharing this not for sympathy — but because Parce is the reason I wrote the blog post about Cushing's Disease. He is the reason I care so deeply about educating dog parents. He is the reason I show up every single day with my whole heart.
Some dogs change you. Parce changed me.
What All of These Stories Have in Common
Every single one of these families had the same fear before they called me: What if my dog isn't okay?
And every single one of them found the same answer.
Not because I am perfect. But because I actually love dogs. Because I pay attention. Because I send the photos and write the recaps and notice when something seems off. Because when your dog pulls toward my front door, I feel it as the highest compliment I have ever received.
